Rhea Springs---forgotten place, forgotten words? Not if you are part of the generational chain of those who lived in or visited Rhea Springs, Tennessee and are the children, grandchildren, or even great-grandchildren of those who drank from its reputed healing springs or danced on Saturday night at its bustling Rhea Springs Hotel. Rhea Springs is central to an oral history shared with many who came after the Tennessee Valley Authority submerged the village below the waters of progress and left its refugees to pass its life stories to their progeny. Those memories are fading because so many who experienced Rhea Springs are no longer among us. However, those who have heard the stories told at our grandparents’ knees, hope to encapsulate in this living blog tribute the pulse of this unique village.
